Workshop – Portraits and Lighting with Rob Sadler @ Cowdray Hall

What to bring

Just bring your camera and your flash unit if you possess one.

What to expect

This session is for all skill levels. There will be an overview of studio lighting and flash photography covering light meters, incident and reflected light, and camera sync speed. You will be shown how to set the camera’s ISO for best quality images. Rob will demonstrate lighting placement to achieve various effects and will cover subjects such as fill light, hair light, and fall off effect. He will also explain the use of Light Modifiers such as reflectors, umbrellas, and soft boxes. Using your camera at social events to achieve the best images will also be explained.

Workshop – Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) with Elke Epp LRPS @ Cowdray Hall

your camera and a three-stop filter if you have one.

What to expect

How to recognise the subjects that make great abstract images. Slowing the camera shutter speed to the optimum interval required to make good ICM images. Using colour and shape to form strong photographs. Forward and back techniques, plus panning whilst extending the lens.
You will learn basic processing to bring out contrast and colour, and how to crop to good effect. Elke will also touch on Multi-Exposure techniques and how to employ them together with ICM.

Workshop – Black & White with Richard Corkrey LRPS @ Cowdray Hall

What to expect

This workshop is for all shill levels. Subjects discussed will include choosing the ideal subjects for a black and white photograph. Converting images to Black and White using Lightroom, and Photoshop/Elements routines. Conversion using LAB Colour space and Silver Efex Pro. The importance of a complete tonal range. Monochromatic tinting with sepia, cyanotype, and selenium. We will touch on using Infrared for Black and White, both with filters and camera conversion.

In this, our last Practical Evening of the season we will attempt to answer your photographic queries. If we don’t know the answer we will attempt to point you in the right direction. If you have a particularly challenging poser then e-mail it in beforehand. we will send it to the right quarter and try and get an answer for you. No prizes for stumping us!
